Mark and Chana (pronounced Shaw-na) Waters were born in North Carolina to families both dedicated to ministry. At the time,
both sets of parents were in evangelism. Since that time, both Mark and Chana grew up moving around in the Southeast while their parents
were involved in various aspects of ministry.
Presently, Mark's parents, Bill and Sunshine Waters, are an evangelistic team for the Florida Conference. Chana's parents, Barry and
Sharryn Mahorney, are pastoring in the Gulf States Conference.
Mark and Chana met while still in academy, but while attending different schools. Their interests took them on different paths, but
brought them back together in 1996 when they began dating while attending
Southern Adventist University. They got married the
following year while Mark worked on his secondary religious education degree, and Chana her elementary education degree.
God led them to begin pastoral ministry in the Gulf States Conference in 1998, where they pastored a couple of different multi-church districts
in Alabama. Then the Lord led them to Florida in February 2002. Mark’s call to ministry was affirmed April 2003 at his
ordination. As they have been ministering, Mark has felt God's strong leading in various aspects of evangelism and youth ministry.
Wherever Mark has been, he has placed an emphasis on young people and leading them into leadership in worship, ministry and mission. Bringing families together in the service of the Lord is a highlight of their ministry.
Besides working in ministry there are other things they enjoy as a family. The Waters family enjoys exploring God’s creations. They
enjoy camping, caving, hiking, water sports, snow skiing, roller blading and pets. Mark takes it a bit farther with SCUBA diving, and rock
climbing. They also both sing and play instruments, which include: guitar, trumpet, flute, and several other instruments that get tinkered
with.
They have three exciting children, Dylan is 5 and a half years old, Preston is 4 years old and Alana is 2 years old. The entire family
enjoys being involved together in ministry.
God has blessed the Waters' family in many ways. In every situation, they look to see how God is leading and blessing.
